
Sublimation

What is sublimation?
Sublimation is the transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state, without passing through the liquid state. Simply put, we use a combination of heat and chemicals to create a permanent bond to a surface.

How do you use sublimation?
Many people use the sublimation process to make t-shirts and mugs. Here at 4 Framing Out Loud, our primary use of sublimation is to transfer digital photos to metal. We use the metal photos in both picture frames and on plaques to make the colors more vibrant and eye-catching. Some examples of previous projects using sublimation are pictured below.
